Kind Hearts and Coronets

In view of my current holidays, i have been consistently watching at least one movie per day. One may call it boredom, and i shall agree. XD

One of the gems i have stumbled upon during one of my search expeditions on imdb and isohunt is the movie duly titled "Kind Hearts and Coronets"

Warning: spoilers ahead. please slow down at the curb and stop at the red light.

This is truly a great movie befitting of it's reputation of being one of britains top 100 best movies ever made. It's cast comprises of stars of the days of old, including Dennis Price, Valerie Hobson, Joan Greenwood and the very very talented Sir Alec Guinness ( OBI-WAN KENOBI BEBEH!!)

Released in 1949 (darn old i know), this movie revolves around this guy by the name of Louis Mazzini (Price) whose mother hails from a noble family but was ostracised following her decision of eloping with an Italian opera singer, who died shortly thereafter having witnessed his son's birth. Being unrightfully denied his birthright, Mazzini aims to claim succession to the title of Duke of Chalfont by knocking off family members who are in line before him. There are 8 of them (believe it or not, all 8 are played by Guinness) and Mazzini manages to put to sleep 6 of the family members. 1 died of natural causes, while the other who was a captain decided to go down with his sinking ship...a cunning twist to the storyline follows his brief succession to the title (lol sorry for the spoiler) which involves...on second thoughts i'm not going to spoil that...but it involves him being in deep shit by the end of the movie.

All in all, this movie is a great example of fine British humour, dark and dry. I find it hilarious though. Sir Alec Guinness really stole the limelight with his fine potrayal of multiple characters. Highly recommended! Great acting all in all, and this is how movies should be made!

F/A-22 Raptor

Okay i officially wanna work at Lockheed Martin when i grow up. This company is one of the military contractors which is currently developing one of the hottest fighter planes on the face of this planet.

the F/A-22 Raptor.

This plane is a fighter/attack plane which means that it could be utilised for dogfights in the air and also for bombing targets on the ground. Which, probably means deep shit for the enemy.

Designed to be unnoticable at long range, the body of the raptor is made to deflect radar signals, which employs a wide arraw of saw-tooth edges and and curved surfaces. It is also designed to improve air maneuverability. On a radar, the Raptor would appear to be as small as a bee. Untrackable. Sweet. You won't know what hit you, until it hits you, which would by then be probably too late.

With Dual Pratt & Whitney F119-PW-100 engines capable of supercruise and thrust vectoring, the Raptor can move to a Speed of mach 1.8 (mach 1.5 w/o afterburner) which is about 612.5 m/s. Crazy? It is also more fuel efficient than any other fighter planes, which means it can travel longer without refuelling...which means it can reach a target attack faster than any other plane out there.

Artillery:
six radar-guided AIM-120C medium-range air-to-air missiles [Fuselage]

two heat-seeking AIM-9 Sidewinder short-range air-to-air missiles.

M61A2-20mm multibarrel cannon ....and this is only for air combat....

New Istana Negara.

"A new RM400mil palace complex will be built in Jalan Duta to replace the Istana Negara that has been used since 1928.

Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said work on the new Istana Negara, to be built on a 96.52ha site atop a hill, will start next June and was slated for completion in 2009.

“We need a new palace with bigger space. Currently, the Balai Rong Seri of Istana Negara is also used as dining and meeting rooms. One room for multiple use is just inadequate,” he said at the groundbreaking ceremony for the palace project at Jalan Duta here yesterday.

The ceremony was launched by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Cabinet members were also present.

Samy Vellu said the new Istana Negara, steeped in Islamic and Malay architectural designs, had been on the drawing board nine months ago.

“It will not be the largest palace as there are larger ones around but will be one suitable for a country like Malaysia,” he added.

He said the fate of the present Istana Negara would be determined by the Prime Minister’s Department. It is learnt it had been proposed as a royal museum.

Kumpulan Seni Reka Sdn Bhd has been appointed the architect for the new palace and Maya Maju Sdn Bhd as the building contractor.

Samy Vellu said the site for the new palace had been gazetted for the purpose 30 years ago.

In his briefing to the King, Public Works Department director-general Dr Amer Hamzah Mohd Yunus said only 28ha would be developed into the new Istana Negara complex while the rest would be a garden area.

“The existing forest will also be retained as a security zone. The forest reserve will developed into a garden and will be opened to the public for recreational purposes,” he said, referring to a request from the King that a garden be developed for the public.

The new Istana Negara complex will comprise the palace building, supporting buildings, housing for palace staff, police, security office, mini army camp and a double-storey entrance from Jalan Duta and a parking area.

The complex will have a floor area of 75,000sq metres, excluding the parking area, and will be divided into four wings.

The site of the present Istana Negara in Jalan Istana here used to be home to a millionaire named Chan Wing in 1928.

After the Japanese occupation, it was converted into a palace for the Sultan of Selangor until 1957, when the federal government took over and turned it into Istana Negara."

Wow...What can i say...RM400m of taxpayers' money going to a building which not only will not benefit the country's economy, it will also take up a huge amount of land in Jalan Duta, KL which could be developed for other purposes.

This project is so totally useless, i don't understand how it could have gained approval from the parliament...if approval was even sought.

Furthermore, the current Istana was proposed to be turned into a national museum...walaoeh WTF man...dont we have a national museum already? we dont need another one. What are they gona put in it anyway? bigfoot?! XD

A waste, a waste i say! RM400m is a freakin huge amount and this is a freakin stupid way to spend it!!

but the fact that the current Istana was actually owned by a chinese businessman came as a surprise to me...wow, i didnt know that. cooooool...

funny news, funny excuse

There was this recent blunder made by the staff of the Penang Municipal council where one of them controlling the CCTV at an official function used the RM500k equipment to zoom in on women's thighs -women journalists' thighs to be specifc- instead of the official proceedings.

WTF...and the excuse of the staff when being caught red handed, ready to tfk (ok i'm making this up) was:

"errr, ini CCTV i tak boleh control punya la...memang majiam tu punya".

Above statement was such a crappy and lame excuse, it was immediately proven null by some badass engineers who proved that the CCTV can be freely maneuvred (duhh of cos can la, RM500k u know) without much hassle. I'm beginning to suspect that PMC ppl are a bunch of baboons high on crack.

WTF number 2...and instead of taking action on that stupid mofo, Penang Municipal Council president Datuk Abu Bakar Hassan had this to say:

“The issue is the sexy dress of the journalist. If it was not sexy, it would not have happened."

Wakao...and now they're blaming it on the women...is this jahilliah or not man...please la...control your equipment and "equipment" properly la...I'm starting to believe that their "equipment" takes primary control of their actions instead of their brain (which is on shutdown mode most of the time) . And what's worse, the woman journalist wasn't wearing anything sexy or revealing at all, just a knee length skirt and a long sleeved shirt.

WTF number 3...and when being shot by numerous action groups, the press, and women's rights groups, Mister Datuk Abu Bakar had this to say:

“Kita adalah orang yang bertamadun manakala, mereka-mereka yang bukan beragama adalah di belakang kita.”

hahahahahaahah WTF number 4!...
number 1: he still dare bring religion into the picture after such a shameful deed done by no other than members of his own religion.
number 2: he still dare mention bertamadun which is like the biggest bullshit in the history of mankind. hello, using CCTV during a formal function to zoom in on women's thighs is dam bertamadun la now...walaoehh...
number 3: he still dare mention "di belakang kita"...hmm maybe we should use CCTV to zoom in on women's thighs oso la...we are di belakang mereka now, must catch up lar /sarcasm

This statement is contradictory to our "Bangsa Malaysia" ideals which according to Mr. Najib "does not discriminate based on skin colour, race or religion"...wow...very touching...his next sentence however is the biggest oxymoron in the history of the universe: "It does not question the special rights of the Malays, our quota or anything of that sort." This statement left me breathless as i rolled on the floor laughing and having seizures. Such contradiction...the cheek...such...insufficiency of intelligence...

Now I'm pretty sure that most of the people running our country are a bunch of baboons high on crack.

WTF number 5!
